7.6 BEREAVEMENT LEAVE


Paid bereavement leave is granted to employees for a death in the immediate family, i.e. mother, father, child, stepchildren, grandchildren, spouse, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandfather, grandmother, aunt, or uncle. Up to three (3) days may be allowed within the local area and up to five (5) days for distances greater than 200 miles. Part time staff are only paid for the number of hours that they would typically be scheduled. All bereavement leave must be approved by the Library Director. Any additional time needed by the employee may be taken as vacation leave or made up at a later date with approval from the Library Director.


An employee must submit a leave request form immediately after returning from bereavement leave. All bereavement leave must be recorded on the employee’s monthly time sheet.
