BLRL COMPUTER USE POLICY
REGISTRATION AND RESERVING TIME FOR USE
Access to library computers is provided to customers during regular library business hours. Access will not be provided when the library is closed to the public.
Library users with a valid library card in good standing may register to use a library computer. Anyone with overdue materials or an outstanding balance for lost or damaged materials will not be allowed access to computers until their debt has been cleared. Library card must be shown when signing in for library computer usage.
Non-library card holders may use a library computer with payment of a $1.00 non-refundable fee, per individual, per use, even if it`s on the same day.
ALL computer users must read this Computer Use Policy and sign in using the Computer Use Form agreeing that they understand and will abide by the policies and rules for use.
All computer users must sign-in at the circulation desk.
Children ages 12 and under, must be accompanied by a parent or an adult, 18 years or older, to have access to a computer and use the Internet. As with other library materials, restriction of a child`s access to the Internet is the responsibility of the parent or adult, 18 years or over, who must supervise their child or children`s Internet sessions at the library.
Space is limited at computer stations, therefore only one person will be allowed at the computer at a time. The ONLY exception to this is a parent or guardian working with a child under the age of 12 or in computer class instruction situations.
As time permits, library staff will assist with Internet searches and/or provide computer help, but is not responsible for training individuals in use of the Internet and/or computers. Computer users may be referred to library materials or local classes for additional assistance.
TIME may be reserved, up to one day in advance, in one hour block increments . Additional time may be available if no other customers are waiting to use the computers. *Customers that are late for their scheduled reservation will forfeit the unused portion of their reserved time.Those who are more than ten minutes late may lose their entire reserved time. *Unreserved time may be used on a walk-in basis.
Unauthorized disclosure, use, and dissemination of personal identification information regarding minors is not allowed.
Computer users are prohibited from accessing images of a graphically explicit sexual nature that may be reasonable construed as obscene and in violation of current law (Mo. RSA 573.010. Section 573-060).
Filtering software has been installed to block materials deemed offensive. Adults, 18 years and older, may request that filtering be turned off on sites that do not fall into the restricted categories. *Restricted Categories that are not allowed on library computers include, but not limited to Telnet, Bulletin Boards, News Groups, Chat Rooms, and online Games.
Customers may not use the library computers for conducting a personal for profit business or for conducting any unlawful activities.
Computer users may not use or install a personal software program or download to the hard drive on any library computer.
All personal flash drives and/or CDs WILL BE scanned for viruses by library staff before use. Any customer that causes a virus infection to the library computer and computer system with a personal device will be denied future computer use and may be held liable for any damage inflicted.
EARBUDS are available for purchase - check with the circulation desk.
PRINTING: Customers may print black and white pages at a cost of twenty-five cents per page. Customers are responsible for ALL pages printed. If assistance is needed please ask the librarian.
Problems with computer equipment must be reported to library staff immediately.
Misuse of any library computer or intentional damage to library equipment or computer system will result in the loss of computer privileges and may result in suspension of library services. Library personnel reserve the right to terminate or restrict library privileges for abuse of these policies.
