You may have seen a crew and drilling rig on the donated building site. The first step in building a library is to do a geological survey. The current prospective building site would require the construction of all underground infrastructure like potable water supply and a septic system; due to this, knowing what is underground is very important. The BLRL Board of Trustees approved the firm Palmerton & Parrish, Inc. Geotechnical Services to conduct a survey of the site.
"Our goal with this survey is to ensure we do our due diligence. We take our responsibility to the community in Shell Knob very seriously." says library director Gina Milburn. She continues, "The whole Library District is helping fund this project along with all the local folks that have made donations. We want to make sure we make educated choices at every step of the construction process. The BLRL leadership team believes we owe that to everyone that is helping us with the Shell Knob Library project."
"Along with the geological survey, some significant donations have recently been made that could positively affect this project. Despite the fundraising being a slow process, some recent contributions (still in the works) may move the Shell Knob Library Project forward sooner than expected." Says Library Director Milburn.
