"Pop-Up Library" Makes A Big Impact in Smaller Communities

Updated: Oct 16, 2023

"So, what is a Pop-Up Library?" You may ask; a Pop-up Library is when a temporary library is set up in a community that doesn't have a library building. We bring the library to you!

Happy kids and families in Verona and Wheaton had a great time picking out book movies and fun prizes and having a Storytime in the park. The Pop-up Library events were held in Cannon Park in Verona on Sept. 19th and at the Wheaton City Park on Sept. 20th. Over the 2-day event, the BLRL reached 75 patrons (primarily kids) and distributed 694 books and other items! But also delivered the message that "just because you don't have a Library doesn't mean your town is not a part of the BLRL, and we welcome you to be Inspired by life-long learning at all nine branches of the BLRL.

Community quotes from the event:

“Thanks for having them. They were excited about the stuff that they got.”

Robin P. Verona

"My grandchildren were so excited about the books and activities they were able to get and want us to go to the library now."

Wheaton grandparent
