Full-time Library Assistant, Adult Services (40 hours per week) position available immediately at the Monett Branch Library. Duties include, but are not limited to, organizing and conducting all adult (ages 18+) programming and events including summer reading program, book clubs, library tours, in library programs (food/nutrition, exercise, business, gardening, painting, etc.), and outreach to senior centers, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and local clubs, and organizations. Represents the library in the promotion of library services in the community. Responsible for home delivery service to homebound patrons. Performs general circulation duties, shelves material, helps with emptying the book drop, and assists library patrons in locating information and books. Responsible for helping to shelve library books and materials and empty the book drop.
Desirable experience, education and training—Graduation from high school required. Associates degree, Bachelor’s degree or college level courses in a library related field preferred. Experience in library work; or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities of position are REQUIRED. Must possess the ability to positively promote library services in the community. Excellent computer, organizational, and customer service skills required.
Starting salary ($32,886-$39,692 yearly) is dependent upon experience and education level. Benefits are included. Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Currently the Monett Branch is open Monday-Wednesday 8:30-5:30, Thursday 8:30-6:30, and Friday-Saturday 8:30-5:30. They are closed on Sundays.
