This new library program has three main goals. We want to make reading and literacy a more important part of every child's life. Provide community leaders a chance to chance to get out and personally connect with kids and parents. And lastly, give our children access to role models that inspire them to grow up not only caring about our community but also being someone that takes action to improve it.
The program kicked off on November 12th in Monett with "Leader-Reader" Nathan Bowen reading to preschool storytime crowd at 10:30 am. The next day Wally Long will read to local home-school youngsters at 1:30 pm in Mt. Vernon. Long and Bowen are two of the local leaders running 157 District State Representative seat.
The schedule is limited; if you are a community leader interested in scheduling a time to be part of the ongoing Leaders as Readers Program, please contact Greg Brown at Greg@blrLibrary.org
