Huge Changes at The Library!

The BLRL is Going “Evergreen” in November!

We are announcing a win-win for our patrons by the BLRL joining Missouri Evergreen.

As you know here at the BLRL we are always working to provide better services despite having limited funds. This will not only save us money but will provide our patrons with better service!

So what is Missouri Evergreen, and why should library patrons be excited about it?

Missouri Evergreen is a statewide group of partnering libraries that use the same computer software to manage and share books and other materials. This switch will save money. As many of you know our budget is stretched thin, so the $10,000 in estimated annual savings is greatly needed. Visitors to any branch of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library will soon be able to browse and borrow materials from 45 different library systems across the state. This new service will be provided without added costs to our patrons. Better service while saving money is a win-win.

BLRL Evergreen dates to be aware of:

  • November 4th – 13th: BLRL branches will not receive any new books or other materials during this time as we transition from one computer system to the other.

  • November 11th: All BLRL branch locations will be closed in observance of Veteran’s Day. Patrons may experience disruptions in online service, for example, patrons may not be able to renew materials, place holds, or check out e-resources.

  • November 12th – 13th: All BLRL branch locations will be open as scheduled, but there may be disruptions in online services, for example, patrons may continue to not be able to renew materials, place holds, or check out e-resources. Library computer-based functions LIKE HOOPLA & LIBBY may not be working and checking in or out may be slower. These are “growing pains” as we switch from one computer system to the other. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our patrons.

  • November 14th: This is our “GO LIVE” date, the projected date to have Missouri Evergreen up and running for library functions online and in the library branches. Please be patient with the staff as they work to provide this new service to our library patrons!

  • December 2nd: Projected date patrons may begin borrowing from all the member libraries' shared collections of books and other materials. Missouri Evergreen and the consortium of 45 member libraries should be fully integrated and up and running by this date.
