You can now find some great new research features on blrLibrary.org, the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library website. “These digitized newspapers represent a treasure trove of our community’s past… And what’s really great is that now they are accessible online,” says Library Director Gina Milburn.
If you’re interested in diving deep into local history you can find the Wheaton Journal years 1919 to 1994, the Cassville Republican years 1890 to 1946, and the Lawrence Chieftain years 1876 to 1919. These digital newspapers are searchable by both keywords and by date, making finding what you are looking for a much quicker process. The digitized papers are accessible thanks to the State Historical Society of Missouri located in St. Louis through a joint LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) Grant..
