The Marionville Branch has a special commitment to the people of our community. Free programs focus on children, families, and the elderly. We have a fun and exciting weekly pre-school program and home school program.
The town of Marionville, in Lawrence County, was founded in 1854 by James Marion Moore. Marionville had the first school in Lawrence County, called "the old log schoolhouse". A junior college was established in 1876 and became Ozark Wesleyan College in 1910. In 1925, the college closed and the buildings were converted into housing for the Ozark Methodist Manor, a total retirement community that provides skilled health care, semi-independent living and independent living for senior citizens.
Marionville is known for its apples and its white squirrels. Apple and peach orchards are located in the area. Marionville is one of at least four locations in the United States that claim to have albino squirrels.
In July of 2006, The Marionville Branch Library moved into a new building, located at 303 W. Washington Street in downtown Marionville.
