Mt. Vernon Branch Closed For Clean Up of Water Damage

Updated: Mar 18

The heavy rain over the last week has caused significant water damage in the Mt. Vernon Library Branch. The branch will be closed for a few days to deal with the damage. Water backed up due to an apparent storm drain issue around the library. The flooding infiltrated the library soaking the floor with mud and sewage.

Online library services are unaffected so we ask patrons to take advantage of our library apps.

Please do not use the Mt. Vernon book drop, return borrowed materials to another BLRL library location OR keep your borrowed items until the library opens. Fines are never charged for overdue items at the BLRL.

Library staff is working hard to restore the library to working order, and you can check back here for updates. Right now there is no set date for reopening as we are determining how long the cleanup will take. Below are some photos of the cleanup efforts.
